With a beautiful day ahead of us weather wise, we planned to visit the port side town of Looe and try at hand at some catch-and-release crabbing.

We piled into the van, and set off, with a few stops along the way. Some plans to take a local train through scenic cornwall didn’t quite pan out, but we substituted with some stops for scenery instead.

First stop, with some sheep and a great view of rolling country side

The Duloe stone circle was billed on google maps as being a “Mini Henge”, and was on the way, so we stopped to take a look. My personal opinion is that it was billed a little too heavily :P

Done with the henge, continued the drive to scenic Looe. After parking, we walked in to the city, and stopped to get crab fishing supplies. Multiple sets of nets, buckets and bait were purchased for all the wanna be crabbers.

We walked across a bridge into town, and found some space among a popular bank, where other people seemed to be having great luck with catching crabs. We managed to catch quite a few crabs, while enjoying enthusiastic conversations with some kids that were crabbing next to us, and were all to eager to teach us techniques. The scenery was lovely too.

We had our fill of crabbing, and letting them go was just as fun. Once all the crabs were back in the river, and with hunger beckoning, we decided to continue walking through the streets of Looe in search of lunch.

While we were wrapping up lunch, we came across a group of pirate cos-players wandering the streets, which added to the local charm.

The beach and rock pools were next, so we wandered over there, and spent the afternoon crawling all over the rocks, trying to see what we could find in the little pools. The catch there was much slimmer than all the crab we had caught that morning, but we had fun exploring.

As the afternoon wore on, our time at the rock pools were coming to an end. We came back to looe for some ice cream, and started our trip back to “Three Cows ont Green”, where we were staying.

Along the way home, we saw signs for Golitha Falls, and decided to make an impromptu stop. There was a short trail to nearby waterfalls, and while some people in the car were too tired for this adventure, and small group (Sanjana, Tejas, Suba, Mahesh and I) went on a short walk to enjoy the evening and the waterfalls. Along the way, we found a rope swing along the way, and took turns swinging across the river and back. It was quite fun.

At the end of the hike were some beautiful waterfalls, and some lovely scenery.
