Thanksgiving and Aaravs Bday

We spent thanksgiving weekend with parents in Brentwood. it was relaxing stay-cation.

The Avarakkai (Indian broad beans) in the backyard continue to produce in copious quantities, so we harvested and cooked a couple of pounds of that. Every day was a fancy meal, and resting to recover from it :)

Aarav turned 10 on the 27th, and we celebrated it with “Elai Sappadu” for him, with fresh vada, payasam, and other favorites. He certainly enjoyed the experience.

Purni had already baked an eggless chocolate cake, but Aarav had wanted to keep it a surprise from my Mom, who in turn had planned to bake another cake. A delicious eggless fruit cake was also baked, and the kids enjoyed frosting and decorating that one.

We all took a late afternoon walk, to make use of what sunlight was left. We were rewarded with great light, and a gorgeous sunset.
