We visit Yosemite valley, and attempt a hike to mirror lake

We finally got a chance to meet Miraya in the morning, and enjoyed socializing with Archana and family over breakfast. The amount of food that we had all collectively brought was so excessive as to dominate most of the mornings conversation topics.

We finally get to interact with this kutti on our vacation

On Friday, the plan was to make a visit to the valley and try a short hike to mirror lake, since the trail there was paved, and should be stroller friendly for Miraya. We drove down to the valley floor, and parked in Curry Village, and started walking towards the mirror lake trailhead, taking in the views on our way.

After a lot of false starts (Sud’s prescription glasses went missing, food left behind in the car, restroom shuttling, etc.) we made it about half-way to mirror lake as a larger group, before food took priority over scenery, and so we turned around halfway to mirror lakes.

We found a picnic area within North Pines campground, that was right next to the the water in the Merced river. We enjoyed some delicious Avocado sandwiches, chips etc courtesy of Archana. Post lunch was water time. Miraya had a ball playing in the river. Tejas enjoyed his kerplunk time as well. Aarav was a bit too shy to get too far into the water, but enjoyed dipping his feet as well as providing instructions to everyone else.

After water time, I was still keen on finishing the Hike to mirror lake. I promised the boys some “souvenirs” in exchange for their company on the hike, and they were glad to take me up on that offer. Archana and Sudarshan were game too, so the 6 of us (Miraya came too) made the short hike to mirror lakes.

Despite the heat of the afternoon, we kept good cheer, and made it to mirror lake. Although a little disappointed in the low water level there, we took some pictures, and took in the scenery, before turning back for a nice walk back to the rest of the group.

On the way home, we took a brief stop at “El Capitan” to admire it, and take pictures of course. A long detour for gas later, we made it home for a nice dinner of veggie tacos.
