Los Angeles: Christmas with the Schpoks
Gallery
Purni made a trip to India, to spend some time with her Mom. The boys and I split our christmas break between grandparents in Brentwood and the Schpoks in LA
Not wanting a super long drive, we made a half-way stop in Pismo beach. Although we missed the sunset (cough) lazy boys didnt want to go out (cough), we enjoyed the boardwalk at twilight and a brief walk the next morning to get donuts. A cute beach town overall.
The next day, we finished the drive to LA, but with a stop in Santa Barbara to enjoy the beach, the boardwalk and to have a nice sunny outdoor lunch.
Josh and Family had planned to attend a christmas concert at the Walt Disney concert hall that evening, and we tagged along.
Before the concert, we stopped by the Grand Central market, and everyone chose something different for Dinner.
Our walk back to the concert hall took us up Angels Flight. Andrea and I were both reminiscing about the season of Bosch that involved that LA landmark.
At the concert, Aarav and Ira were really enjoying each others company, and didnt want to be split up. Our tickets were not near each other since I booked tickets pretty late, but we swapped kiddos and Tejas hung our with the Schpok family, and Ira and Aarav were thick as thieves in the last row.
The next few days were a collection of hanging out, playing a D&D campaign with Josh as the DM, eating amazing meals that the Schpok family had organized for everyone, and generally enjoying the company of everyone.
Impromptu jam sessions were common, and we went out one night to look at the Christmas lights that were up around the neighbourhood.
Josh led us all in a short hike starting at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. We enjoyed some nice views of the LA area during that hike.
Josh and Andrea had organized a sunset horse ride for us all. Unfortunately, it co-incided with a forecast of rain. Undeterred, we all kitted up in rain ponchos and other rain gear, and still enjoyed a sunset horse back ride. A first for me and the boys.
We were sad to leave, but had a great time, and the boys made some unforgettable memories.
Thanks for hosting us Andrea, Josh, Ira and Ada.
