A visit to Point Reyes over Memorial Day weekend

Gallery

We took a long drive to visit Point Reyes over the memorial day weekend. The weather ended up not co-operating, and it was overcast and we even experienced some light drizzling.

We started out a little later than ideal, and hunger started earlier than our arrival at the beach, so we stopped at Samuel P Taylor State Park and found a nice picnic bench among the trees to enjoy a lovely picnic lunch

There was a pretty creek running through the campground and picnic area, which we took some time to explore. Tejas said that creeks are his favorite type of water body.

Hi!
Scenic and peaceful

We packed up and drove to Point Reyes Beach South, where the cold biting wind did not allow for us to linger too long.

Since we had not spent too much time on the beach, I wanted to make the short trip over to the Point reyes Lighthouse, just to see what was there. We were not quite prepared for how popular that spot was. It was packed with people. Parking was more than a half mile away from the actual parking lot, and a light drizzle meant the family stayed in, and I was on a solo mission to explore.

The Sights were excellent though, and I really enjoyed the short walk to a view point above the light house, and back.

We made a brief stop at the cypress tree tunnel near the historic KPH marine radio station before heading home.
