Interlaken #2: Lauterbrunnen and Oeschinensee

Gallery

On our penultimate day in the interlaken area, we visited the Lauterbrunnen valley, which is famous for its scenery, waterfalls, and a popular destination for people to skydive, basejump etc.

We enjoyed a lovely walk through the valley. Our destination was Trummelbach falls. The falls has a funicular, which lifted us up to a series of walkways that gave us intimate access to view the channels cut through the the mountain by all the flowing water.

We had a lovely day walking all over, and taking in the scenery.

Leaving lauterbrunnen, we decided to visit Sigrisiwil bridge, that was featured in the k-drama “Crash Landing on you”.

That evening was Switzerlands' national day, so we were treated to fireworks in the evening, interrupting our family board game night.

Happy Swiss national day

Our last day in Interlaken, we decided to take the skylift up to Oeschinensee lake. One of my wishlist items was to ride a toboggan or a mountain rollercoaster, and the ski lift area of Oeschinensee had a toboggan ride. We had a lovely time riding the toboggan, with some of taking multiple turns on the ride.

After toboggan rides, we walked the short distance to the very scenic Oeschinensee lake, where Sanju, Tejas, Aarav and I had a chance to rent a row boat and go for a short boat ride.
